Damaturu — Many people, including civilians,
attackers and operatives of various security agencies were feared killed
yesterday when over a dozen high profile bombs exploded and gunmen
fired gunshots for several hours in many parts of Damaturu, the Yobe
State capital, witnesses said.
Residents said crisis erupted around 5.00pm and continued unabated, a
development that forced the state capital to a standstill as people
scampered for safety while thick smoke and raging flames enveloped the
skies.
According to witnesses, the Joint Task Force (JTF) had engaged the
attackers numbering over 100 in a gun dwell into the night. One report
said the attackers were heading for the private residence of the state
governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, while another report said they were
heading for the governor's official residence along Maiduguri Road.
Commander of the JTF in Yobe State, Colonel Dahiru Abdulsalam,
confirmed that there was an attack in Damaturu yesterday, but that his
men were on top of the situation.
"We are on top of the situation...We actually arrested a member of
the Boko Haram who was about planting an explosive somewhere," he said.
He said JTF operatives had also discovered a hideout of the sect
members at a primary school in Sabon Fege. "We have mobilized our men to
the site," he said.
No group claimed responsibility as at press time but the attacks
mirrored the pattern of onslaught being perpetrated by members of the
Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko Haram.
Sources said yesterday's clamp down was sparked off by the arrest of a
suspected member of the Boko Haram earlier in the day in Damaturu, who
allegedly died in custody of security operatives.
It was also learnt from reliable sources that about 25 members of the
Boko Haram sect were arrested at Yindiski area in Potiskum, 120km away
from the state capital.
A source at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, Damaturu confirmed
that trouble started at the hospital around 5pm when some soldiers took a
suspected member of the sect to the hospital for treatment.
"He was brought to the Accident and Emergency section with some
bullet wounds for treatment. He was alive when they brought him.
However, when we were about treating him, we heard endless gunshots
behind the perimeter fence of the hospital. Some of the soldiers
mobilized to the direction of the gunshots and fired back while the
remaining soldiers took the suspect away," the source said.
"It was from here that the fighting escalated to many parts of the
city in what looked like a series of coordinated attacks," the source
added.
Speaking in low voices, many residents told Daily Trust by phone that
yesterday's attack may likely be more devastating than the November
4th, 2011 spontaneous attacks in Damaturu which left many people dead
and reduced many buildings and symbols of authority to shreds.
Resident Maryam Ali said there was fighting between suspected gunmen
and operatives of the Joint Task Force at Sabon Fegi area where the
private residence of Governor Ibrahim Gaidam is located.
Sounds of blasts and gunshots soon manifested in other areas,
including Nayinawa, Gwange, Gashua Road, Ali Marami as well as
settlements in the western and eastern bypass of Damaturu.
"I am afraid to tell you that the assailants have probably attacked
the governor's private house in Sabon Fegi," Mohammed Sani, a resident
of the area said, adding that he saw a thick smoke from the direction of
the house where Governor Gaidam stays with his family.
Daily Trust also gathered that a police outpost located close to the
governor's private residence was destroyed by the ravaging explosives of
the gunmen.
The number of people killed and those injured could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
"It will not be possible to bring any corpse now because as I am
talking to you, sounds of gunshots still rent the air and we have many
outpatients that have been trapped here," the source at the hospital,
who spoke to our correspondent around 9.20pm said.

PCR PROVEN HIV TREATMENT
The PCR proven HIV treatment HOO-IMM PLUS had recorded
phenomenal change in DNA-PCR Antigen Test. Patients those continued the
treatment for 18-24 months, once attaining the viral load to less than
detectable limit and adhering to the instruction strictly, had recorded
HIV DNA-PCR Qualitative Antigen Test 'Not Detected' and the test
interpreted the blood sample to be negative for the presence of HIV. And
so the medications were completely stopped for almost one year and
again undergone for HIV DNA-PCR Antigen test (Qualitative) and again
recorded 'Not Detected'. The same test was repeated for 2nd, 3rd &
4th year after completely stopping the medications and the patients yet
recorded 'Not Detected' for the test.
The method for the confirming the presence of HIV antigen is HIV DNA-PCR Antigen test (Qualitative) test by Nested PCR Technique. Thus becomes the only treatment which is PCR proven HIV treatment.
HIV AIDS treatment HOO-IMM PLUS: A cure is the end of a medical condition. The term may refer specifically to a substance or procedure that ends the medical condition, such as a medication, a surgical operation, a change in lifestyle, or even a philosophical mindset that helps a person suffer. It may also refer to the state of being healed, or cured.
In accordance with the above definition, HOO-IMM PLUS is a perfect HIV AID treatment that ends the HIV infections by inhibiting the HIV viral antigen and eliminating the HIV gag (core) region namely P55, P39, P17 and HIV pol integrase P51. Thereby putting to end the course of the treatment once the patient records ‘Not Detected’ for HIV Proviral DNA PCR Antigen Test. The matrix protein P17 MA also plays an important role in the HIV-1 viral life cycle. P17 is responsible for the transfer of viral nucleo capsids from the nuclei to plasma membranes, the site of virus assembly. Thus Gag precursor P39 & Matrix Protein P17 are responsible for a redirection of the assembly process to the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum. Thus indicating the absence in the process of new viral assembly of HIV in the body and therefore interprets that sample is negative for the presence of HIV.
Thus HOO-IMM PLUS is a HIV AIDS treatment, the only Anti-HIV drug that eliminates the HIV antigen from the body.
HOO-IMM PLUS from HOOTONE REMEDIES the effective PCR proven HIV treatment, proved in light of medical science, recorded not detected for HIV DNA-PCR Antigen test in the patients who were earlier confirmed positive for HIV either through DNA PCR test or Western blot Antibody test. These Unani medicines had recorded 98% inhibition against the causative agent HIV in invitro lab test.
98%
inhibition against the causative agent HIV has been recorded in the
Anti-retroviral Activity Testing Drug Sensitivity Testing made in a lab
studies, revealing the highest inhibition rate among any anti-retroviral
medicines against HIV in invitro studies.
30% increase in CD4
counts & 70% decrease in RNA viral load Realtime RT-PCR within first
month of the treatment, and CD4 counts doubled & virul load down to
less than detectable level within 3 months of the treatment in the
patients possessing very high virul load counts.
The patients who were
earlier confirmed positive through DNA PCR or Western blot antibodies
test later after the treatment with this medicines has recorded 'Not
Detected' in DNA-PCR Antigen test and the Sample of the patient is
Negative for the presence of HIV.
In the viral
specific protien study the HIV-I intermediate Gag precursors P55, P39
and matrix protien P17 and Pol integrase P51 were found to be absent in
patients after the treatment. Thus indicating the absence in the process
of new viral assembly of HIV in the body.

Photo journalist brutalised by LASUTH staff
A photojournalist from Leadership Newspapers, Benedict
Uwalaka, was on Thursday brutalized by staff of Lagos State University
teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary for taking shots of events while the
corpses were released.
Mr Uwalaka was at the premises of the hospital with his colleagues from other media house on the invitation of the hospital’s management to cover the release of identified corpses of the Dana Air Crash victims.
Mr Uwalaka had moved closer to the vehicle where a corpse was to be placed when an official of the hospital seized his camera and another one hit him on the head with a bottle.
But some official of LASUTH approached and seized his camera while some others beat him up, tearing his shirt and leaving his face swollen and bloodied.
The assault on the photo-journalist irked his colleague and they went with him to report at the nearby police station.
Returning to the hospital to collect his camera, Mr Uwalaka was hit from behind with a bottle on his head by another official of the teaching hospital, leaving him with more wound on his head and bruised face.
Worst place to be a journalist
The assault on Mr Uwalaka is coming on the heels of a report that places Nigeria as the second worst nation as regards the safety of journalists in its territory.
According to the bi-annual ‘Killing the Messenger survey’ of news media causalities produced by the Cardiff School of Journalism for the International News Safety Institute (INSI), the survey claimed that some 70 journalists and support staff were killed while on assignment in the first half of the year 2012 alone.
15 of them were confirmed dead between January and June in Syria where a bloody civil war has raged on, while in Nigeria, seven journalists were said to have been killed in bomb attacks carried out by fundamentalist sect Boko Haram.
Other countries listed after Nigeria are Brazil, Somalia, Indonesia, where five journalists died in a plane crash, and Mexico.
The toll compares with 124 for the whole of 2011 and 56 for the first seven months of last year. And 70 may be a conservative figure as INSI has recorded the deaths of an additional 30 news people where it was unclear whether the killings were related to their work, the INSI reported.
“Journalists are more than ever in the cross-hairs of the enemies of freedom,” said INSI Director Rodney Pinder.
“Despite some encouraging international political moves to halt the murder, the gun and the bomb remain the favoured method of censorship in far too many countries.
“Each and every killing chokes the free flow of information without which free societies cannot function.”

COURT ORDERS F.G ON SUBSIDY REPORT
Court bars FG from implementing fuel subsidy report
Presiding Judge, Justice Gladys Olotu, in her ruling on Wednesday, ordered that the “status quo” be maintained, pending the determination of the originating summons filed by the company.
“The government and its agents are hereby prevented from arresting, detaining, prosecuting and recovering the N13.2 billion alleged to have been received by the plaintiff as fuel subsidy claims, pending the determination of the case,” she said.
Justice Oluto, also granted accelerated hearing in the suit, saying “this summons is hereby accorded an accelerated hearing in order to expeditiously dispose of it.”
The company prayed the court on June 25th with a motion on notice brought pursuant to Order 26 Rule 2 and Order 28 Rule 1 of the Court Civil Procedure Rules 2009.
Integrated Oil prayed the court to declare that the Federal Government, as represented by the defendants joined in the suit was not entitled by law to act or take any step on account of the resolution of the first defendant.
The company also requested an injunction restraining the defendants whether by themselves, their servants, agents or representatives from any act or taking steps against the plaintiff and its officers on account of implementing the April 25th subsidy report.
The oil marketing company is amongst the 210 companies included in the fuel subsidy report produced by the House of Representatives ad-hoc Committee on the management of the nation’s Fuel Subsidy. Integrated Oil is alleged to have claims of N13.2 billion collected from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Joined in the case are the House of Representatives, the embattled former chairman of the ad-hoc Committee on the Management of Fuel Subsidy, Farouk Lawan and the Attorney General of the Federation. Also joined are the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Inspector General of Police.
The company, which is owned by a former Internal Affairs Minister, Emmanuel Ihenacho, sued the respondents, following the indictment of the company as one of the major oil marketers that collected foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and failed to import or supply the fuel.
The plaintiff sought a declaration that the resolution of the first defendant-House of Reps-passed on April 25th, which approved the report of the Ad-hoc Committee was illegal.
Speaking to journalists after the proceeding, Tayo Eyitibo (SAN), counsel to the plaintiff, said any action taken against his client would be illegal, particularly when it had challenged the constitutionality and credibility of the probe report.
Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), counsel to the defendants, noted that the order granted for accelerated hearing of the suit was important to the case.
He added that government would complete investigations into the matter in order to pave the way for the prosecution of indicted companies.
“The report of the committee is still being considered as fact finding, requiring relevant security agencies to first study it before any legal action can be taken,” he said.
The case was adjourned to October 18 for further hearing.
